About Us
Coretalk brings business intelligence to SMS gateways.
The ability to send an SMS is a simple process and many companies have produced SMS gateways.
The idea of purchasing bulk SMS from respective telecommunication companies, marking up the SMS tariff and providing companiues with the ability to send SMS messages is the common gateway business philosophy.
(Feel free to Google bulk SMS and see the many companies that follow this model.)
These companies are focused on pushing as many SMS as possible to maximize profits.
The sending mechanism may be linked to your database or simply bulked out from an imported spreadsheet.
- + What makes us different?
-
The Coretalk model provides business intelligence linked to sending and receiving SMS and truly provides companies the ability to be fully SMS enabled.
The software is licensed on a monthly basis and revenue is not made on the SMS sent.
Customers receive wholesale SMS rates and the tool to manage customer relationships.
Coretalk focuses on the relationship with your customers, using SMS as a tool. Rather than just being SMS volume orientated as most SMS gateways have become.
Coretalk has been consistently developed over many years to enable companies to effectively manage the inbound and outbound SMS messages that they send and receive.
The management process follows traditional CRM guidelines in that the system is customer centric, simple to use and follows a logical process when dealing with issues.
Coretalk truly SMS enables companies providing them with the necessary tools to make the most out of communication sent and received through the SMS gateway.
Coretalk utilizes a GSM modem to provide companies with their own INHOUSE gateway connectivity and has an option to provide SMPP connectivity to 3rd party SMS gateways if the need arises to increase the speed of delivery.
Nine years of focused software development and over a million lines of source code developed by four advanced software engineers and overseen by three business development managers has lead to the current Coretalk platform.
With a substantial established client base that have renewed their subscriptions and years of analysis the product is constantly improving.
Coretalk has been brought to the spotlight by telecommunication giant MTN (http://www.mtn4sme.co.za/biztext.html) recognizing:
- Market potential,
- Ability to ingrain itself into the small medium enterprise segment
- Increased revenues in the SMS and data space. (Coretalk has been rebranded for MTN in South Africa)
- Maintain a competitive position and offering solutions to companies.
This bears testament to the real value that the product offers in the market and proves that Coretalk is far more than just an SMS gateway.
As the market develops and companies realize the importance of instant feedback and efficient management Coretalk will continue to grow.

- + Where did the Coretalk idea come from?
-
Approximately 9 years ago in South Africa we developed an application to distribute prepaid airtime from a mobile handset. The application was designed to provide resellers of prepaid cards the ability to sell prepaid pin numbers using their handsets as a terminal and SMS as the medium of distribution.
The solution was built using the GSM network and utilized the TXT/SMS messaging system as a tool to distribute the pins to the resellers’ phones.Wireless GSM modems were utilized to connect to the network and process the SMS messages.
The solution was a success with millions of prepaid pins being sold.
The company signed on many resellers’ and realized that servicing the resellers’ daily issues became a major priority to keep the business process efficient.
The company had over a 1000 registered resellers’ of airtime. The resellers’ had a communication requirement with the company in that they were banking money on a daily basis into the company’s account.
As the company grew, service levels declined and the cost of communication from fixed line to mobile phones grew dramatically.
A cost effective solution to communicate and manage its client base had to be developed in order for the company to survive.
The solution was to develop a CRM (customer relationship management) SMS based help desk that could register incoming communication requirements in any format (Telephone/Fax/Email/SMS) manage and reply in an effective manner. The solution was developed and perfected with amazing results.
- A reseller’ would phone the company.
- A quick search would discover who the person was.
- Their issue would be noted immediately and the call would end.
- The company personnel would have access to the required information to help the reseller’.
- They would then be able to efficiently action the noted issue, which was automatically linked to a facility to send a TXT/SMS message to the reseller’.
This process meant that the company could literally handle double the workload with half the staff. All the resellers’ had mobile handsets.
- The cost of a call to a reseller’ was R1.80 and the TXT/SMS was .18c.
- The time to action the call and reply by TXT/SMS was at least 60% faster.
- The service level provided was fantastic in that the historical communication specific to that reseller’ was automatically displayed whilst dealing with the client.
This meant that 9 years ago we had developed a solution that could move and manage traffic to the SMS/TXT medium where appropriate in an effective manner.
However the cost of the solution and the hardware setup was such that it would have been too costly for an SME to adopt the system.
This has been resolved and Coretalk is now an affordable platform for small medium companies.
